My sisters dogs does that on the floor if they leave for a few days, and even if they leave it the garage to poop in, it deliberately leaves a present on the floor, even when they had someone come and feed him, walk him and check up on him every day.

Pretty funny now that i think about it, she loves pooping on carpet. When she is walked outside she only pees. Inside the house where there is only hardwood floors she will poop and pee on mats and carpeted areas. I should mention she is an inside dog.
