The thing is, that the shock doesn't need to be that small. This new super low s chassis stuff we just did will sit the car on the floor until it cant move and still have a fist full of threads to go down. So that short ass strut is just uselessly small. The craziest s- chassis in the US run these with the craziest fitments all run at the most 14/12k with swifts for the most part. I will say they're marketing is second to none, and those specs are nothing but marketing.Originally posted by 180roman View Postha ha would need a side by side comparison to see which is lower
I know you can reduce travel with valving them, but that would reduce the life of the seals

Th way I see it, using the valving to reduce the shock travel under bump would mean the valves would have a very small amount of hole to let the oil flow through.
This in turn would mean that the valves would experience a much greater load, thus would have the seals blow faster.
But a heavy spring like 30kg would greatly reduce the load on the valves.
326Power use the springs to limit the compression travel instead of the shock
The shock is there to dampen the movementDrinking Enthusiast with a Car Problem

I use springs to limit my compression too, that's how i know that those springs are overkill and a half. We use penske internals for the most part and amsoil shock oil so they can take whatever load you can throw at them. They themselves probably know that, but found that way to cheaper for them. We've dyno'ed their d1 spec coils and pretty much saw that they were no different from a BC stance or equivalent except 326 power was 1800 dollars shipped.Originally posted by 180roman View PostTh way I see it, using the valving to reduce the shock travel under bump would mean the valves would have a very small amount of hole to let the oil flow through.

well they do coilovers up to 80kg, that is not to say that those cars run those kind of spring rates
The S chassis stuff starts at like 8kg and stops at 16kg, but they do offer custom stuff with up to 80kg
You have to remember that they mostly cater to the VIP market which are 2000+kg big sedans and most of those cars run 25+kg spring rates.
Even Daigo Saito runs 24kg front springs in his drift Chasers which is much much lighter than a full laden VIP carDrinking Enthusiast with a Car Problem

I'm still a baby sass when it comes to racing. Stance shit is easy, going fast is hard

16kg ain't so bad. I stop at 14k but i use swift.
On a BMW, you have to pre load the rears. The shock is separated from the spring so you pre load an 18k swift to how much travel you want and BAMOriginally posted by 180roman View Postha ha cheating
