yo help me out. my 83 yamaha xs650 got a stripped spark plug thread in the head. got it to stay in with thread tape but ppl be sayin that wont last.

do i have my mechanic do a helicoil or do i gotta to a whole top end rebuild?

im thinkin about just riding on the thread tape till it blow, then do the top end then, since this is a hardtail im just tryna putter around town in it probably wont even see the highway

Just do a save a thread kit. Coat the tap in lucas tacky grease and blow it out well.

I'd do a helicoil and rip on that fucker till it blows out. Then top end rebuild. It'll probably last a good while.
