but to encourage a nation to abandon savings and invest, is dangerous. what that does, is make everyone literally dependent

I did my best to notice
When the call came down the line
Up to the platform of surrender
I was broad but I was kind
 And sometimes I get nervous
When I see an open door
 Close your eyes
 Clear your heart

Pay my respects to grace and virtue
 Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance
They always did the best they could
 And so long to devotion
You taught me everything I know
 Wave goodbye
 Wish me well

 Will your system be alright
When you dream of home tonight?
There is no message we're receiving
Let me know is your heart still beating?

 Are we human?
 Or are we dancer?
 My sign is vital
 My hands are cold
 And I'm on my knees
 Looking for the answer
You got to let me know

Always wondered what the lyrics meant, "are we dancer"

----“It’s taken from a quote by [author Hunter S.] Thompson. … ’We’re raising a generation of dancers,’ and I took it and ran. I guess it bothers people that it’s not grammatically correct, but I think I’m allowed to do whatever I want,” he laughed. ” ’Denser’? I hadn’t heard that one. I don’t like ’denser.’ ” (Killers' Brandon Flowers Stands Behind 'Human' Chorus, Feathery Jacket)

So I looked up more of Hunter's actual quote, and

----"America is raising a generation of dancers, afraid to take one step out of line." -Hunter Thompson

I hope to someday hear/read the whole conversation that the (above) quote was taken out of, but I believe it speaks for itself, even alone.
