Not sure what the requirements at the Ring for the 24h are, but I can speak from experience about getting a Media Pass for Gatebil and Essen Motor Show. Basically they just require you to provide details on what media outlet you'll be covering the event for along with links to past works and contact details of said media outlet to confirm your assignment if necessary.
Just applied for some media credentials for a friend yesterday. He's covering Gatebil Mantorp for my blog this year (he already did it last year and I shot Gatebil Rudskogen the year before).

Yeah, I think Kielan put down S|W and articles/other things the site has documented.
It's a pretty cool experience though, I once got a media pass to an event in Adelaide, it was good fun and got some great photos but definitely not something like the Ring or Gatebil!Comment

Yeah usually you need to prove the outlet actually wants you there and some evidence that you do take photos.
When I shot both gatebils, it was just a matter of getting in touch with the actual media people. Really that's all it takes in most places. I've never heard of anyone from an outlet of any sort being denied.- Kielan (Key-lin)Comment
