When you walk into a grocery store and go to the checkout, there isn't a list of rules on a sign the tells you how you should treat the person serving you, it's entirely up to you how you treat them. But there is a right way and a wrong way.

That same theory is literally embedded in every person.

But with the evolution of the internet and social media, said theory is deteriorating rapidly.

lol, i'm far from mad. and for the most part, i don't disagree with you. however the thought that people should feel like they should only receive positive feedback on a forum is no different from our participation award society.

regarding your grocery store analogy...why are there rules in other areas of the forum then? not that they're followed either. as i said earlier...forums by their nature are for discussion. nothing implies that the build thread section should be strictly pats on the back. grocery stores are for purchasing groceries, not discussion. you're comparing apples and oranges.

if you don't want to avail yourself to criticism, don't post something on a public forum, simple as that.

I feel the analogy has merit. You can still have a discussion with said person serving you. Just as you can have a discussion with just about every person you deal with day to day.

You may not buy groceries here, but you do deal with other people.
