I have a 2 hour commute each way into work. It's fucking miserable, moving will cost me ~400 more a month. But that doesn't count the amount of value I place on my time, which is definitely more than $400/month

It's not driving. ~40 minutes total of driving, to and from the train station. Take the train into grand central, take the 4/5 down to Union square, then change to the L and take that over to 8th ave.

Drive to train station: 20 minutes
Train ride into manhattan: 1 hour
Subway ride to work: 20 minutes
Walk from subway: 5 minutes
Walk to subway: 5 minutes
Subway to GCT: 20 minutes
Train Ride home: 1 hour
Drive home: 20 minutes

Give or take 15 minutes each way waiting for subway/traffic, etc

It's not easy to explain, so here is an extremely over simplified run down.

We deal with all of the Replay operations, all of the video hand offs and transmission. It's a lot of networking work.

I have a degree in Information Sciences and Technology.
