I must be getting old, because I want to keep the drivetrain on my Viper 100% stock. My buddy decided to jet/clutch/tweak his Pro X 800, now it's finicky to start when it's hot, it's a pig on fuel, etc etc.

Fuck that, I just want to get on mine and ride the fucking thing. Not like you can ride at 50+mph all day long.

At some point you have to weigh your options.

Messing with carbed sleds is so fun. Last time we rode, we filled the sleds all the way up and did about 80 miles. I have a pretty heavy thumb and the 03 took just over a gallon more of gas than the e-tec.

Jetting makes a massive difference. We leaned it out a bit from factory so it's safe to about -10 or so. Having a temp gauge is a big plus too.

That doesn't sound too bad. I figured out that my sled gets about 7-8mpg.

When? I got a CEL last week, but I haven't scanned it or really even driven it much. I've been too busy to do anything with it.
