I feel like it's just neglect by most people. I understand not everyone is born a mechanic, but the basics (oil changes, tires, etc.) just seems to be glazed over by everyone. And it's not that people don't know, it's that they don't care, or they expect it to be done for them.

It's sad to think that I know of 3-4 people who never did a single thing on their car. And, if something did go wrong, they expected their parents to take care of it for them. Because, you know, the car was purchased for them in the first place.
