  • E46 people... I need some direction.

How did you roll the rear arches on your E46's? I got my hands on a friend's roller, so I'm ready to dig into them... I've done research and it seems that doing the rear arches on the E46 aren't simple.

Did you guys dig out the undercoating in the lip of the arch before rolling? Did you just leave it and try to press the lips in (out?) anyway?

Would really like to avoid cutting, but any other tips are appreciated. The tires on my new wheels are just barely scrubbing. They aren't now that the car has a 1/4 tank or less, but they were rubbing just the slightest bit with a half tank (dreading filling up until these things are rolled out of the way).

    Thanks in advance.

Any suggestions for that? This stuff is hard as a rock. It may have been flexible at some point ~10 years ago.

Heat it up a little with a heatgun? The try and scrape it?

Heatgun is a must though to keep the paint from cracking. Didn't crack any paint on my car or my buddies 2012 WRX. Just took my time and kept the panels nice and warm.

        Good luck man.

Heat gun, flat head screw driver, then roll them.

I heard heat gun and wire wheel, but I just used a flathead. Then roll.

Borrowed a nifty tool from work today, a seam sealer cutter. Brilliant. It seems as if it was designed for this specific application...

Don't have a picture, but it looks like a screwdriver handle and stem, but with a squared-off U-shaped razor blade at the end of it.
