Buying a car with a WTB ad?

Per the title - has anyone ever done it? Any feedback? Were you overcharged? Just curious, as I've been considering posting one. None that I've come across have seemed to bear fruit, but maybe someone had a better experience.

Post a WTB add with the make model of the car you are after and if you are looking for a stock one or with any mods.

As for price, you can post a ball park figure and post "price to vary pending on condition/mods"

As long as you inspect the car you are going to buy and do it well, you should not get ripped off.
But this way if someone offers you a car you know they are keen to sell.
