  • Raised white letters... discuss.

I feel that they work on some cars (RWB, some others I've seen around), but does not work on some.

I can't decide if this is an acceptable trend, or if it's asinine. Kind of dig it, kind of don't. Depending on vehicle/wheel/tire choice, of course.

I think they look good on old american cars.
My dad had a few old chevy Astro's when I was a kid, and they always had the classic Wrangler tires with raised white letters.

All depends on the car and tire.

I certainly wouldn't want to advertise to the world that I'm using "Triangle" or "Riken" tires on the street. But if you're using something crazy like an NT01, an RT615, or the like with some meat to it- then I guess it works.

I had yellow lettering on my old NT01's on my Prelude, it think it worked with the color scheme. I miss that setup.

I can dig it if the car is aggressive.

I love the white letter look. But it's gotta be on a car that looks like it can run, and the tires need to have some meat on them. It's always reminded me of Nascar or Drag racing. I always like the little Good Year decals we put over the front wheel wells too. But that may be a bit much on a street car unless your street car is sponsored by Good Year.

I can dig it. But it can be done wrong, just like anything.

I want to say it's akin to having sponsor decals on your fenders. Come cars can certainly pull that off tastefully, and they are usually sponsors, although there are exceptions to the rule. If your car is sometimes confused as a race car because it is in fact a race car, then it's cool. If you have a reason to be paying homage to the muscle car era, then that can be cool too. It's the same as any other thing found on a race car that has no benefit to the normal commuter car. Wings have been beaten to death for decades...

Some people like it, and it works on some cars. Nothing works on every car, or for every person.

Works great depending on the execution, but is a rather minor detail regardless.

I'm with all y'all on this. Stretched tires + raised lettering I'm not with though.

+1 for white lettering on meaty tires. It's gotta have room to work and be worth showing off. Prime example is that red FC RX-7 on grey Crown Vic meshies. It just works on that car, I'd post a pic but I don't have one on my telephoner.

in my opinion it only works with full letters...outlined don't look so nice....needless to say that it depends on the car/whole look...tastes differ...

I'm a fan of it on more vintage cars with meaty tires. I did it on my '02 and I think it came out nice. I don't like it when it's just stenciled on randomly and doesn't match up with what is actually written on the tire.

Had a paint pen at home and tried it out on mine a while ago. Looks nicer in person and people were loving it. I liked it until it faded and ran after about 2 weeks
