  • Have you used E15 gas??

This is the first ive heard of this ethanol/gasoline blend being sold at gas stations. Not that common out here on the west coast (Orange County). I was just curious if anyone on here has used this blended gas and/or did you experience any problems or benefits with it? i.e. gas mileage, knocking, pinging?

    Cheers.

Haven't seen it in Chicago, at least anywhere I frequent.

And if I did, I'd avoid it like the plague.

took this pic from a gas station outside Fargo, ND last October. There might have been E15 too.

This article is the first I've heard about this blended gas shit. But it sounds like most manufacturers are against it unless your car is 2001 or newer. Or is branded with that flex-fule badging.

They have been doing 10% ethanol blends since the 70s. Most of the gas you pump has ethanol but up to 10%. This was done to help with cold starts back on the old carbed cars in the winter

Even the AAA is against E15:

E85 is the good shit, it behaves like 115 Octane fuel and burns cooler, so in a turbo car you can run more boost, make more power and produce less heat

You do end up using about 30% more E85 over 98 though, so needs big injectors.

The downside of Ethanol fuels is they are like a solvent, so they will clean out the gunk inside your fuel tank and lines and you'll get your fuel filter blocked up with shit

E15 is just pretty pointless, you'll get worse fuel economy for not much saving on price

Was just about to type all this, so +1 on everything.
E85 is GREAT for turbo cars, that plan on getting some more whp, you can advance the timing and get even more power. fuel system needs to be upgraded tho.

My car says it can handle up to 10% or E10 gas. Nothing more. So i'm not putting that shit anywhere near my gas tank. The less ethanol the better.
