  • Looking for something unique

    Hey guys,

My floor mats in my car (the carpet factory ones, not rubber dumb ones) are getting a little dirty. Instead of cleaning them like any normal person would, I've decided I want something different. Wood flooring (not actual wood clearly, just that cheap fake stuff) was a thought, though sounds a little too far fetched just for the floor of my car. What else could I do? I want a small little project for right now, doing something unique in replace of floor mats would be alot of fun. and hopefully something that wont trap dirt like carpet!

wood, even cheap vinyl laminex, will be pretty easy to clean, but very easy to mark and get very slippery when wet. It all depends on the car I guess.. i can tell you it will look like shit, but to be honest I'd need to see it.

Carpet places should sell that timber laminex by the metre. go grab some and see how it fits. Just for the love of god don't use checkerplate.

IMHO this is one aspect of a car where "uniqueness" almost never looks good.

Buy a huge oriental carpet, trace your mats on it, hem the edges.

grafitti stencil on sheet rubber and cut out. epoxy/glue/adhesive onto sheet metal cut to shape of previous carpet.
Hatchbacks, wagons... It's NOT all the same. You want in? Don't get a mazda 3, get a mazda 6 wagon. Don't get a wrx get a legacy wagon. and theres a reason the A3 isn't called the A3 avant... Scion does not make a wagon it makes a weird van, but no wagons

                Sincerely,

Do you have any Filipino friends? Ever been to their house and they might've had clear plastic floor runners in their hallways that even have the spikes to dig into the carpet? Cut that up to match.

Nah but seriously, just buy clear rubber mats that are for your car, like the brand ExactMat perhaps (I have some). Then I ran across a bulk roll of pretty much the same material at WalMart which you could just get that and trace your mats on it.
