  • Whats the point of a front mounted oil cooler?

Is it purely aesthetic or is there a function to this mounting procedure?

it gets the most air flow. ever wonder why the radiator is where it is? the oil lines hanging out all over the place is just a trend these days.

Canon, Fuji, Mamiya, Minolta + Pentax.

Japanese race cars used to do it back in the day.

The motor I am putting in the civic is a jdm h22a type s out of a prelude. Im keeping the factory 5 speed man gearbox, which has oil cooler lines cause in the type s it ran a front mount oil cooler. Obviously behind the bar, but yeah. Just some useless information.

Well Mike's is front mounted for clearance b/c they usually sit under the radiator in e46s and that just wasn't gonna happen at a stanceworthy height in an e36 chassis.

Plenty of track guys do it. They just keep it behind the grill and front bumper.

the e30 m3s have them right behind the front bumper as well.

Just thinking maybe those older Japanese cars don't have room inside so they mount them outside. Or its just a fab not sure.
