Go on www.groovydrift.com and look in their classifieds... people sell used complete or rolling chassis' all the time and all kinds of parts and stuff. I bought my tt-01 off of their for cheap. Someone is selling a ready to run kit right now with everything you need for 100 bucks.

I've had my share of RC cars as well, mostly older Tamiyas, which I used to bash around parking lots and over dirty fields, simluating rally racing, lol. I really liked the old TA02. I had an E36 Touring bodyshell as well.

Never really had any interest in RC drifting, though.

Sold all my RC stuff when I got a real car, then got back into it for a short while with a Tamiya FF02 with a Mk3 Golf shell, because I had the same car IRL.

          did someone say drift rc?

i posted a couple of these over on WFC. don't know if you guys checked them out over there but here's a couple of drift rc videos.. the last one is out of japan. in the japanese video alot of the guys are running chassis from Alex Racing which is about as good as it gets..

          Destroying Every Angle

          Race World

          Stage D-Like Japan

rc drifting has come along way in the last few years. if you guys were into it before and got burned out on it you should give it a try again. the cars drift way better now if you set them up properly. the tires are much better and they have dialed in how to properly set up the drivetrain for drift.. not to mention all the body and wheel options.

Grippy, you should do a Hellaflush graphic body. it would be sick because it would be official!

I've always wanted one but never had the extra cash to build it. Sucks. These are legit!

Is that RX7 a RWD? It for sure looks more like a real rwd drifting than all the other AWDs.

no, all rc drift cars are AWD. the chassis is just dialed in for countersteer drifting which allows the rear wheels to turn slightly faster than the fronts so that the car drifts more realistically. you can do longer more controlled drifts by allowing the rears to push you through the turns while you countersteer with the fronts. it also makes it easier to whip the back around on tight technical stuff. it really makes them drift like the real thing and is considered to be the next level in rc drift. look at the slow motion footage. it looks pretty close to the real thing

just answered the question I was going to ask, wanted to know if the chassis are more biased to the rear wheels, looks like it would be hard to drift an actual rwd rc car

There is no bias, but people play with solid and one way diffs (and drive shafts if applicable, or lay shafts) to alter the way each end behaves.

It's next to impossible to properly drift a RWD r/c car.

this is from groovydrift. they have a counter-steering section in their forum..

by changing the final drive of the rear wheels, you can make them spin faster than the front wheels. This means that you will have to counter-steer more to hold the drift. Rather than just sliding around barely counter-steering, you have to counter-steer to drift.
