bmw 740 ideas

hey im new here and just wanted to know what your views on a 98 bmw 740i are?

if anyone has any ideas or pics on what they would do to it that would be great. its becoming likely that this will be my daily driver for the rest of the year so i want to make it a bit better. gotta do it on a budget though as funds are a bit scarce and i have to get my 32gtr a new clutch. but bare in mind im a panel beater and sprayer so any bodywork ideas can be done cheaply.

at the moment its standard and a dull maroon/brownish colour. it has some rust on the rear archs, paint flaking on the wings and bootlid. cream leather interior is imacculate though.

i was thinking of either keeping it how it is and slamming it with some nice wheels for the rat look or completely sorting the bodywork and painting it estoril blue with some nice wheels.
some m5 brakes and a nice straight through exhaust would top it off nicely too.

any feedback would be great, because frankly i havnt got a clue haha

Well it looks terrible like that... Lose the junky stickers and get a smooth coat of paint on it.

what the fuck man? Take every single sticker off now, it looks like a pile of shit you would see rolling through north philly.


After you do that, you can drop it, space it and get smaller tires on those wheels and you'll be set.

This has a good base, I've also got an E38 daily and I've just spent £400 on lowering it on coilovers. Lose the stickers mate, give it a good fresh lick of paint and slam it!

I am so tired of people taking random cars and "going for the rat look". If you want a rat rod... buy one. Don't try to take something as far from a rat as physically possible and use it as an excuse to drive a POS.

An E38 should be clean, low, atleast 18" wheels or bigger. OEM+ mods to interior and some exterior.

Send it to the crusher because it's a short wheelbase with a tan interior. Then get an iL and some FK Highsports and some Image wheels and everything will figure itself out.

E38s are the best looking modern sedan in the world. Fact. It sucks that they're getting cheaper than E36s now and all the bros/chavs are scooping them up CAUSE BRO IT'S DAT 7 SERIE BEEEMA MANE and doing shit like stickers all over and rattle canning their wheels.

ok lol calm down people. i didnt know what section to put it in because yes im new here. its been moved now so all is good.

right, about the stickers. i bought this to go to france to watch the le-mans 24 hours for a long wkend. i bought it the day before we were leaving as my r32gtr wasnt ready in time
we stickered it up just for a laugh for the trip and it was to cover up the wings and bootlid which had laquer peeling off. these pics were when i came home. all the stickers are off now.

i only said rat look because its pretty ratty now. not my fault, just the way it was when i bought it. i prefer the clean look but ive seen a lot of rat look pics on the stanceworks facebook page. not 7 series though. and obviously saving time on doing bodywork is a plus. but yeah your right, bringing it back to showroom look is the only way to go.

oh my god that 7 looks amazing! i didnt even know they did a long wheelbase?? as far as i can see its just the back end is longer right?

oh and just so you know im not one of those wanabe people that dreams of having a nice car but never ends up getting one, heres my pride and joy









ignore the grey bonnet its just a spare. black one is going on tomorrow. cna give specs here if anyone is interested or do you think i should start a build thread for it?

Dude, it's your car, do whatever the fuck you want to do to it. But to be loved by everyone, paint it black, slam it on its nuts, and throw some 19's on it. I went a different route, I painted mine a custom color, put benz wheels on it, shaved the emblems, and only dropped so it doesnt kill my oil pan.... I got no love. But that's the deal with building cars, if you build them for you, you never lose! I like sharing my builds with the world, but I only care about what I like.

Here is mine, a total cost of under $5k including the cost of the vehicle, and I wouldnt change anything I've done.
