  • Polish steel. It'll last?

I've tried to polish my roll bar.
    Do you think it'll last?
I've polished the roll bar with bluemagic metal polish but not the cream... It could be more shinny with the cream? I'll maybe try it.

    Here's the pictures.

    Here's the product I used.

I've used 220,600,1000,1500,2000 sandpaper and then the bluemagic with the cone polisher.

Any tips or idea I could try to make it more shinny?
Should I clear it to protect/prevent rust?

Clearing it will be the only way to prevent oxidation of the surface. Even when it's all nice and shiny from the cone polisher, it's still exposed to the elements and is subject to them. When it's as hyper-shiny as possible, send that biotch into the booth.

Also, be careful if you're clearing it in your garage. Dust will cling to wet clearcoat (or any wet automotive paint) like a motherfucker, so it's best to get a place with good suction/ventilation, or if you can, a proper paint booth. Thankfully, in the right temperatures, clear doesn't stay wet for too terribly long.

Good luck! It already looks great! Hand-sanding through multiple grades of sandpaper is a bitch and a half, so mad props are in order.

[edit] On first look at the title, I thought you were asking about the quality of steel from Poland. And I was surprised that Pavel hadn't answered.

Thanks a lot! I will try to get it more shiny and finish the bigger part off the roll bar and after I'll clear it! Hope the dust will stay away. I'll update when It's done!

Clearing it is definitely the way to go if you want it to last.

Ps. since the label on the polish bottle is half french, i assume you're not for US ! I'm from Sherbrooke, QC where you at

I had the same problem reading the title. thought this was questioning the quality of polish metals. good work. I think it'll take a long time for that to oxidize , esp if you re-polish it quickly by hand even once every ~ 6 months or so.

This was the bigger part of the roll bar polished with the cream.

I tried to clear it but it's kill the polish looks and the finish was rough. So now I'll try to remove the clear and repolish it with the blue magic.

This product has a silicone that's suppose to protect the steel. I'll try it without clear.
