    Hm...

my obsession with this stuff started back in the 90ies, when I was just a little kid. My dad was a gearhead back in the day, and somehow I ended up with my paws all over one of his car magazines, showing lots of nice Golf Mk1s on 9x14s and E30s on 9x16s and other stuff like this.

I started to realize back then, that a car has to be low and wide to look good.

When it came time to buy my first car, I was on some kind of japan-trip and wanted some japanese car, mostly a Celica T18. All the cars we looked at were crap however. My dad convinced me to look at a Golf. I fell in love with that thing, bought it and promptly registered on VW Vortex. Back then I was more of a conservative mindset (i.e. nice wheels that fit without modifications and a slight drop), because 'I didn't want to be one of those guys that slow down to a crawl before speedbumps'. Five years later and I have one of the lowest E36s in Germany.

As for how I ended up on Stanceworks... I sold my Golf and bought a E36 320i sedan and signed up on BFc. Went more in the right direction with this car with 17" Azev As and quite some low. Some time later I got a PM from a certain M. Bfurroughs, telling me 'I have a new forum. You need to be on it. Sign up.'.

I saw the horrendous wheel gap on my car and ***** it since day 1 with the car. I was just going to get lowering springs as I figured coils would be too low for me and I would **** the ride. But I hit the curb bent my strut and it just proceeded to coils and the current wheels. For there I just kept winding the coils down and now maxxed them out.

I came here after seeing a picture of rusty

A forum I regularly visit isn't based on lowered cars, which is why I am here and love it.

I sought my passion for lowered cars in the late 90's, back when I wasn't old enough to drive a car or better yet modify my own. So what did I do? Build model cars and slam them. Not gluing the wheels to the suspension like they should, but gluing the tires to the top of the inner fender wells to give it a drop or even some cases cutting the top of the tire away to lower the cars more lol.

I was into cars since I was a kid and fews years ago a buddy of mine became obsessed with fucking vdubs which lead him to vortex and then to s|w. He showed me a couple vdub threads on here to which I consistently replied "gay!". Started clicking around and realized there was more than just slammed vw's and was immediately hooked. Twas an awesome day.

Ive loved low cars since I was a kid. Looking at them in magazines. Lowriders especially, Grew up and got myself a lowrider and that was that. Friend showed me S/W a couple years back and I joined. I think Just after Fatlace forums crashed for that hiatus

              Re: What's your story?

I am Sheila... and I have a to choose a Topic, but I can find an appropriate one for right now, so I just chose this one... but it's more than a Walk of Hope or Living childfree. It's Endometriosis. It's PCOS. It's staying strong. It's finding hope.
I am pretty new to Resolve and Inspire, but I found these sites about 2 months ago and they have saved my sanity. I had another breakdown crying fit this morning as I read that another friend of mine gave birth to healthy little girl... Praise the Lord for a healthy child! Enough!

That's me! Good to see you here, my bro

I came to SW because it was a place of like minded people who were doing what they thought was fucking cool, no matter how many poeple thought it was dumb. They stuck to their guns and wnt against the grain, and I related to them.

I became a lover of slammed cars since I saw my first slammed VW when I was a kid.

                      Awesome thread idea

Like most of you guys, grew up having a passion for anything mechanical. Did the whole RC and bike thing before I could drive, and almost as soon as I could drive I was on CL looking for a car. Decided on a volvo 240 because my friend's dad is a volvo mechanic, and they're super easy to fix. I saw some volvo 240's slammed on widened steelies from Europe, and feel in love. Ended up dreaming about being low, and one thing led to another. I didn't really plan to have a "stanced" car but Me and a buddy cut my springs more and more and I found a set of widened steelies, and it all snowballed from there. Now I just spend like 2k on refinishing/buying wheels and I'm leaving to pick up a new car.

I've always liked low cars, even as a kid.

What brought me here? I sold my e28 to Mike Burroughs and he said, "hey, I've got a website now, you should check it out." That's how I got here.

What didn't bring me here! This place is awesome.

Started getting interested the lowered/stanced car scene in late 2009. Found S|W a few months later and lurked around a lot. Ended up joining and actually posting shit in in summer of 2011. I've loved everything about this place; the people, the cars, the crews and how everything is wrapped together with brilliant photography and blog writing.
