Teach me about WRXs. 2002-04

I'm starting to look for a car to possibly replace my e46 this summer, and have recently fallen in love with bugeye WRXs, but I know very little about them.

Anybody know what I should look out for? Suggestions/alternatives?

I'm considering an older BMW too, but I like the sound of AWD and a turbo. Plus lower miles.

02 WRXs have GLASS transmissions, I think 03s too. Can't remember.
