  • For Trade? Who's done it?

For some reason the thought of trading cars has started to intrigue me. I'm not ready for it yet, but I like the idea of trading one work of "art" for another. I have a lot of plans for my daily, but I know that once I can afford a new car I will buy one. I wouldn't want to trade in my car, and I know that I wouldn't get the value out of it selling it on my own, so trading seems like it can work out for everyone involved. Ideally both parties should walk away thinking they got the deal of the century.

Has anyone traded cars through here or another forum? What was the deal? Was it worth it? Would you do it again?

I just always see these FT threads and just start day dreaming about what someone might trade me for my car someday...

Well in R.I. for cars 10yrs and older all you need is a bill of sale and proof of previous owners registration. So we write a bill of sale for $500 saying we sold eachother our cars. Pay taxes on $500 boom. done.
    cars and stuff

I always think that trade cars have something wrong with them. Not usually the case but yano. Few friends been stung this way, few have done it themselves to get rid of shitters.

I've traded 2 cars and all were very good quality. Sign the title over and like skrapez says put $500 and pay tax on that.

I've traded my v8 blazer for a bagged s10 then traded for a 52 Chevy and recently sold that. And actually looking to sell my 4x4 s10 blazer for something smaller.
I think sometimes people do it to trade crap cars away but other times people do it because they need a different car (like a growing family, truck for work) and are having trouble selling and trading is quicker and easier.

iv traded cars a bunch of times, my best trade(s) are when i traded a 96 honda civic that i had $20 invested into for a 2000 chevy silverado, and then i traded the silverado for my 1971 monte carlo that runs 10.80s in the 1/4

including the gas money, trailer rental, new cd's for the two 8-10 hr trips and food money i have $555 into the 71 monte

trading is a good thing in my eyes haha

Never buy/trade for someone else's project car.

You never know what you're going to get.

I've done A LOT of trading. It's gone both ways for me. I've been screwed a few times, and came out way ahead a few times. You just really have to look into what your about to trade for.

I would just make sure to get a PPI ( Pre paid inspection) done on any vehicle before you trade
