  • Tupac guest appearance Coachella 2012

Tupac is an artist who I would have loved to see perform live in concert, but I’m not so sure about seeing a hologram of a dead rapper performing on the stage. What do you think?

Tupac’s guest appearance at Coachella 2012

I would have loved the opportunity to see Tupac live in concert, and for the first time since his death in 1996 he has made his comeback in the form of a hologram.

Dr. Dre was the man responsible for this epic performance and it’s said that he sought approval from Afeni Shakur (Tupac’s mother) before embarking on a laborious four month collaboration between James Cameron’s Digital Domain, U.K. based Musion Systems and AV Concepts, who were the hologram-imaging company responsible for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," and the youthful version of Jeff Bridges in "TRON: Legacy".

“While the actual specifics of how the hologram works are under wraps until after the festival closes, in an interview with Dr. Dre last week on Los Angeles radio station Power 106 revealed that Coachella organizers had given the rapper a "blank cheque" to do whatever he wanted for his weekend sets”.

Do you think this sort of trickery is just a creepy cash grab that rides on the back of a dead artist’s success? Or do you believe that this sort of breakthrough is actually pushing the entertainment envelope to provide quality performances to those who never had the opportunity to see their favourite performers on stage? Could this mean that we might see the return of legends like Michael Jackson and Dean Martin?

If the video clip wasn't enough, you can keep up to date with the latest by following hologram Tupac on Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/HologramTupac/

It seems a primitive version had been done with Elvis and Celine Dion!

It will be interesting to see if Nate Dogg will make a hologram comeback too!

Definatley a cool idea, I don't think it's all that wrong to do once in a while. When they start making new songs from voice soundclips it will have gone too far.

It would be cool to see a full tour of it. Be a very different type of show.
