Monster Miata

So my dad is retired, and we decided it was time for a real father-son project to work on, so we're thinking about getting a cheap/beat Miata and swapping in a Ford 302.

I just wanted to see what others here thought of the project...

Yes, I know they did it on Gearz.

Yes, I know there is a V8 swapped Miata in the for sale section, but I want to have the fun of the build with my dad (and the headaches...)

Maitas really started to grow on me as soon as the first couple low ones were posted here, and my dad really likes the idea of something that would be such a sleeper.

I'm just wondering if anyone got a Monster Miata kit and did the swap. Is it as easy as they say?

...and I would really appreciate it if anyone chimed in and said they have a NA Miata with bad paint but minimal rust in New England for $2000.

ive seen a few solid ones go for under $2k up here but you have to act fast on them because theyre usually not up there for long
