  • Being Low: An Outside Perspective

This is a conversation I had with my sister about her and her husband coming home for Christmas. She was asking if I'd have an extra car for her to drive. She's not super Bimmer savy, so I referred to my E28 as the low one.

me: I'll let you guys drive the low one
    NOT...haha
Alisa: yeah i choose not to
me: Good...I'd like to drive that one again
Alisa: itd come back with no bumper
    likely
me: More likely no oil pan
    Or entire front end
    Alisa: hmmm
    me: Or exhaust
    It wouldnt be good
I have to avoid the inner lanes on Pearl crossing Branham becuase the divots are too deep and I scrape suspension pieces on the ground
Its scary as hell if you're not expecting it
    Alisa: ok you have problems
    me: Hahaha

My GF reminds me on a daily basis how stupid it is that my car is so low.

This was on Zilvia a while back. I forgot the username.

Here's a perfect way of laying it out. Hell, it helped a girl understand why we lower our cars so low.

Why do girls wear heels when they go out? They aren't comfortable at all. But they do it anyways. Why? Because heels make the legs of a girl look so much better. If a girl is hot, the heels just put her way over the top.

Same thing applies to cars and their low ride height.

hahaha i've had plenty of these scenarios....

            i can remember one..

ME: so what we gonna do today?
FRIENDS: idk, let's just go downtown and hit up a movie or something
            ME: Alrite let's go
FRIENDS: can we go in your car since we fit more people (previous car)
ME: ummmm yeaah i don't like drivin in tha city, too many pot holes and f**ked streets. plus the parking lot has speed bumps
            FRIENDS: FINE

also had to take the GF and her friends in my car one time and her friends in the back asked me why i constantly swerved and i said because my CAR IS LOW AND THERE'S DIPS AND POTHOLES in my way, she said what's the point of lowering a car then

sucks when you got friends that don't understand and you end up coming off as a douche.. my old car used to be slammed and rarely ever let anyone in the backseat.. driving a lowered car can be a hassle but i wouldn't have it any other way!

First time I let my brother drive my car it came back with the lip dragging with the car down the street.

Sucks for you. Courtney loves how low my car is, and brags about it to people.

                Suckers.

I hear shit from just about everyone on a daily basis.

                    Here are some good ones

"I think your car is TOO low."

Friend "So I see you drive on the side of the road sometimes"
                    Me "yes, and?"
Friend "what happens if you can't (drive on the side of the road)?
Me "Pray I don't fuck anything up too bad or get stuck. If I get stuck I didn't hit it fast enough."

                    Girl "what was that sound?"
Me "Probably the frame on the ground."
Girl "I don't feel very safe anymore"

In reference to my tires, not the really bad ones but the ones that are decent.
Dad "you tell me those tires are worth a shit. they're not."

"You're wheels look like they're broken..."

"What's the point if you can't turn your wheels all the way?"

                    One of my favorites
"Damn boy, you drive like you're drunk."
"Hey, I'm just dodging shit in the road."

I do have a couple friends, who like me, find it humorous to see everyone look while I'm scraping or dragging my car across something.

I let my grandfather drive my e46. When he returned he said and I quote,"I think you need new rims and tires, the ones you have on there aren't working too well".....I burst out into laughter when he said it, I guess he's just used to the stock wheels on his e46 wagon and e39.

This makes me remember the time when I was in my sedan exiting my schools parking lot... quite a steep decline and even some stock height cars scrape a little there. I was scraping frame and going real slow and at an angle and there were two girls walking to their car next to the exit... I had the windows down so I could hear what they said...

Girl #1: "Boys and their lowered cars... it's so pointless."
Girl #2: *sigh* "Yeah, I agree... my boyfriend is the same, it's so dumb."

Shop Mom: Why are we lowering cars when we just keep breaking them and replacing parts on them?

OJ: Sucks to roll hard Ma.
