  • Looking for a Subie, need advice

    I can't really decide if I want a 2.5rs or a bugeye wrx
I like them both, and I just need to bounce the ideas off of the people here. Has anyone owned both?

Loyale!..............what year 2.5rs? the earlier ones are awesome. I think they are "GC8" chassis code. But yea, i'd get a 2.5rs.

I believe both of the cars I'm looking into have Rotas on them. First thing I will do is get some real wheels...

I basically want something to drive while my TDI's oil pan is cracked...
I don't want anything front wheel drive if it's not TDI, and awd would be nice for the winters. I'll keep either on lowering springs until I replace my tdi, then I'll slam the Subaru.

if you get something NA, the 05+ had the good headgasket.. otherwise they are prone to failing and usually require engine removal to fix it.... if you want a beater id just get a NA, or just get a *gasp* 96-00 civic.

I had an em1 for a couple years and wasn't happy. My tdi is pretty much a beater... I really just liked the boxer rumble... I just got home from test driving a 2005 Legacy GT. I liked it but I didn't really love it. I think I might put this Subaru idea on hold for a while (since winter isn't an issue anymore) and just go get what I really want... An E30...

No, at the moment my oil pan is fine, but being low and in CT is taking its toll on the car, I was thinking of getting a car for the winter, as TDI's are not too fun in the cold mornings. Basically I want a spare car to drive while repairing my daily, until such time that I can afford a new tdi. My jetta, being a 2000 with 2004 motor of is going strong, but the rest of the car is falling apart, a couple months ago my car was in the shop for a month because no one could get my skid plate off to change the cracked oil pan because I had ground the bolts down too much... The brakes have been a constant battle, and I know I need new axles soon. When my tdi is down, I still need to drive, and I don't like to daily my Cherokee or M3.
