  • Little history lesson in "hellaflush"

Okay, so I know the vast majority of you have heard of the whole, "hellaflush is another fad that is going to die soon" comment from tons of people. I have, too, and it kinda gets annoying both ways. 1 "Hellaflush", and 2 the style isn't going to die. Now, I need to get a little history from how the style originated. I've done a few searches online and came up with very little. All I know is that it has to do with laws back in Germany with something about tire size and wheel size (SUPER VAGUE I KNOW LMAO) and of course, VIP styling that originated in Japan years ago, as well as the drift scene from Japan. Also, the term "hellaflush" was just coined not too long ago, (2003?) and it just so happened to blow up in recent years.

ANYWAYS! I need some help on finding a little more history about the style itself. Thanks in advanced!

if you are sure it originated in germany (maybe u refering to tief und breit - low and wide), shoot Dr AK, or maybe K.rischan a pm

    they both germans

and a quick google told me this
Hellaflush simply means having the wheel Flush with the fenders. This is usually achieved with wheel offset or spacers and usually requirers a good deal of negative camber.

This is a style that is growing at a very rapid pace. It originated from drift cars that were low and had wide wheels pushed out as far as possible. It is also very popular with VIP styled cars as well.

The term "Hellaflush" was coined by Fatlace, and is now one of their brands and the name of their most popular string of car shows. it seams they are slowly leaning toward "Slammed Society" for a brand name. But Hellaflush is here to stay.

The internet will be a BIG place full of nothing very soon. Make sure you confirm your information with reliable sources otherwise you'll be taking some 13 year old kids ramblings for fact.

From what I heard, there was a German law saying your tires couldnt stick past the fenders of your car but your wheels could, so if you wanted to run wide wheels you had to run stretched tires that fit inside your fenders. This is just something I read on a BS site once though. Could be true, could not be.

Yes, aggressive fitment is old. It was popular in Europe and Japan long before it became a craze in North America.

                          The HellaFlush blog mainstreamed it.

same tire rule applys in japan.
boso biker gang started in the 50s then it was seen in cars which huge fender flairs and wide wheels (along with many other over exaggerated mods) with stretched rubber as well. i believe it started in japan first because of the era of cars usually seen in boso style is somewhere in the 70s
