  • is a b5 a4 worth it?

theres a 2000 a4 around the way from me for $2200 with 160k miles on it(A lot of miles i know). i've been in love with b5 s4s since i can remember and for my funds this is probably the closest thing. im not crazy about speed i enjoy getting on it every once and a while but my main question is am i just gonna be dishing out a thousand dollars every month or two after 160k miles. its a 5 speed and i think 1.8t i was hoping on offering the guy 1800 - 2000 but i havent got intouch yet so i have no clue wether to not he has records to repairs and what not but it says the car "Runs Excellent" i have no pictures but the cars got a couple scratches here and there but its in good condition

How do you feel about early models E36 325?
        they are very solid cars.

If you only had a reliable daily driver already, I'd say check it out since you love those cars.

When the snow falls, you'll be glad you bought an audi. Also, you won't be throwing thousands at it every month. Just needs maintenance like any other car. I hate when people say these are the most unreliable cars, if you beat your car and don't take care of it then yea it will fall apart on you.

If you take it to a shop and have them diagnose it for hours, yea it will cost 1000s. I am pretty damn sure that after 18 years of B5 being around, every problem imaginable has been documented online. Audizine, Audiforums,Audiworld, Quattroworld, VWVortex, etc etc

I dailied mine for two and a half years. I had maybe 3 check engine lights, all for o2 sensors. Granted I had a 12v which is a bit more reliable, but I'd re buy that car in a heart beat. Like every other B5 OWNER in here is saying, do the regular maintenance and keep up with everything and you'll be fine.

If you get it, you might want to buy stock in Audi ignition parts, especially coil packs. I would even carry up to 4 spares in your trunk at a time.

Wrong. Old bolt down coils rarely go bad. And newer coils are recalled.
