Apple does very slick soft and hardware IMO. They usually are not at the cutting edge of technology because if they release something they make sure it works well and brand new technology usually has problems. They do have a great marketing team, and a bunch of blind followers, anyone who is thrilled it will do video and send MMS finally is stupid.

Maybe Multi-touch is new, but the rest of what you said agrees with my point. None of that is new, just done better
I like the iPhone don't get me wrong, the thing that kills it for me is the battery life and no hardware keyboard.

i like way iphone looks.. but it costs 599€(8gt) or 669€(16gt) [599€ = 840$] so price goes tooooooooo far beyond and won't get anything new for that cash.. old phone has all the same things webbrowser, sms, etc.

New iPod Nano Shuffle! You can flick it and it randomly chooses a song! OMG I MUST HAVE IT! I can't just turn my iPod to shuffle and hit the NEXT button!

Apple makes a damn fine product. Their marketing department is 2nd to no one. They can make whatever they are selling the new and coolest thing to have. Makes people go crazy to have it!

I just can't bring myself to spend the money on their products with more/equal can be had for WAY less. I was just shopping for a laptop. Been using the same laptop(AMD 64 2.4ghz 1gb ddr2 RAM) for close to 4 or 5 years!

Off I go to the internet. I shopped Tiger, newegg, apple.com, dell, gateway, macmall and others. I know everyone loves their Apple laptops but the price is just outrageous. I settled on a Intel Dual Core 2.0ghz, 4gb DDR2 Ram, HDMI Out, DVD-RW DL/Blu-Ray. Loaded... 500 shipped. 5.5lbs with a 14.1" screen. To get that on an Apple I would be paying over double. I just can't warrant that. I'd rather buy 2.5 of this Gateway and have backups or give one to the wife.

Absolutely. Even on cool phones, Verizon butchers the GUI/firmware and ruins the phone.

I am probably canceling my Verizon contract and switching to an iPhone in the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, verizon is on a CDMA network I believe. So the phones have to be set up differently. Verizon prices/contracts ftl.

Yep, Verizon uses CDMA basically restricted to the US which is why their service is probably the best and the handsets suck in all areas especially battery life!

Sprint uses CDMA as well

ATT/T-Mobile uses GSM (SIM cards) meaning your phones are "capable" of usage abroad. I stress capable since the two companies make sure the phone is locked (restricted to the carrier exclusively (redundant?)).

I use a hacked jailbroken/unlocked iPhone 3g under t-mobile and as a former Blackberry advocate, I wouldnt go back! Its sorta like moving from FWD to RWD....

nothing like having a phone that can essentially do whatever I want! (when it comes to phones).
