the way S/W used to be? Yeah, yeah... I know, "people/ the public are going to voice their opinions etc.... Just wondering what ever happened to, "If you don't have anything nice to say/type...don't." Now a days, it seems that I can't open a thread without someone taking a crap on someones car or there choice in parts etc... I know things change for the better, but really? Do we need to act like some of the forums we left due to others being that harsh?


Discuss... Because I have no idea why so many are reverting to doing so.

The style trended, lots of people jumped in, people started half assing work and then people that have no idea what they are talking about have decided to go all elitist and act like fuckheads. It's ok though, S|W is still good where it needs to be, and I think those of us that know what I'm talking about are ok with that.

The "Style" has been around longer than this board has. I was talking about the sense of a "Positive Community" that was here not too long ago. And yes, S/W is great where it needs to be and still will thrive elsewhere I'm sure.
The Half Assing work etc... is still no reason to bash someone (IMO) It could be done via PM. I understand when a member asks for comments and opinions, but a of lot posts are from people trying hard to get a laugh at the expense of another member.

I didn't post this to put others out there, but merely as an awareness. I'm sure I'm going to catch more heat from this too, as it seems to become the norm... or maybe not.

Don't forget about the people who start new threads and then cannot take criticism when they do something wrong or dangerous or could have done it better, etc. I think a lot of people get their "anger" from these threads and more and more of these threads are popping up. It's a shame. :/

OP, no matter what forum are community are are in you will always have hardcore assholes.
On the other hand most people cannot take criticism very well, thus they think everyone is an asshole who doesn't like what they did to the car or whatever they have presented to the group.

Just be glad that this community is here.

Things will always change over time... There isnt a way to control what people say or how/what they post. Its unfortunate, but if you dont read into the bullshit and only read the good stuff then SW will continue on.

I barely post anything of importance on here anymore, but Im still around.

I noticed this slight downhill trend since joining but I am not nearly as active. S/W is still one of the most friendly forums I am on. I have never post where "this is stupid" type of stuff. Opinions are like assholes everybody has one and they stink.

What some of us need to understand is that if you have just bad things to say to someone who makes a shitty thread or a half-ass car or comes with a snobby 'tude, ideally you should ignore the thread and not post on it. That-a-way the thread will not be bumped and will be filed away deep within the pages of the SW Showroom section lol.
Then again negative criticism makes one excel for the better at times.

I joined S|W because of the fact that the community is so diverse... but with that comes conflict/disagreements... hell even on make-specific forums that is the case. I do agree with the fact that it usually works out better if people shut their mouth unless they have something nice to say or something constructive to say given in a supportive way.

The bandwagon tends to attract a harsher crowd. With the growth of an online community you get your members that join to sit and poke fun at other. It's the internet, you can't take it seriously. The real community exists in the meets and get-togethers that you attend. There you will find those who really appreciate what goes on.

More recently a lot of new people have been joining with shitty attitudes that put others in shitty moods, people who have been around here a lot longer are getting annoyed by the number of kids coming on here and saying "WTB Stanced Car" or asking exactly how to build a car, or when someone politely says they don't like what they've done, they blow up and get super offended. It'll all balance out, just recently its been an influx of stuff that really hasn't been what SW is about. This isn't the first time a thread like this has come around, and it will calm down again, just goes in waves. Just go with the flow, and when times get rough, just don't leave RT lol.

For the most part I ignore anyone that signed up after 2010 or so. Makes it more manageable.
