  • Motivational Hot Rod Stuff

Well I searched and found nothing. We need a thread to post Hot Rod media. Personally I love them. Nothing motivates me to build more than seeing raw metal. That's where it all started so post up. Also if anyone knows where some similar material is feel free to link.

All I can say is wow. Never really thought about hot rod culture in depth until now. Very very cool and tons of respect

The cars themselves are often not xactly my cup of tea (not saying they're not awesome, but I'm not sure I'd like to own one - that mostly goes for the older stuff, I'd sure love a '50ies Merc, but that's more Custom than Hot Rod), but I absolutely love their mentality and approach and the craftsmanship most of those guys pour into their cars. It's all about quality DIY. I love that!

It's a dying breed, unfortunately. Reminiscent of a time where things actually took skill to build, and not every dipshit teenager on the block had.

Such a shame. I hope to carry on the tradition in the future.

Thanks for posting this thread. I'll be right here updating with anything I find as the craftsmanship never fails to impress me. I've got a few good shots of cars from the local dragstrip here, will get them up for you. Also we have a work in progress in the back garden, though its somewhat modernised...

spectacular. I was hoping a thread like this would surface. i love the hand work these guys do on a daily basis, i like to think I do a lot of similar things on my projects, and hope people understand the blood and sweat that goes into this way of life. I mean, there is nothing like learning by doing. forming metal, welding, fabrication, all things you need to do to fully respect and understand.

This stuff is extremely inspirational. great thread!

Haha I`m glad it hasn`t already been done.

I plan on my next project being something from the 30`s rat or hot rod. I want to be a part of that SO bad. I really want to take a few fab courses and see where they can take me. I`d give my left (or right) nut to be able to do that for a living. The passion behind each piece shows through on the final product.

                  Bullshit.

Hot rodding pre-fifties cars may be a dying breed, but only because of the scarcity of old iron, nature takes its toll on steel and there are just less cars around to modify and those that are still around many want to restore.

I think everyone who modifies their car is cut from the same cloth, from rice to hot rod we all set out to make cars our own. I guarantee you that there are half assed shit cars in every car community, including hot rods.

You missed the point by about a mile.

Think back to 50's... parts had to be made. You couldn't just flip open a catalog and say "I want this and this and this to modify my car," pay for it with your credit card, get it in the mail the next week, and bolt it on the day after like you can now. Hot rodders built engines and fabbed parts. I want to say 1 out of every 100 car people these days do that. If not less.

1 in 1000. It's one thing to bolt something on, but its a whole new step to create something.

Thanks man. I wish I would have left a note for him. Probably has an awesome story behind it and would make for a great feature. Hopefully it will be in town again so I can do a proper shoot and article
