-Comfortable
-Classy
-Rare
-Decent fuel mileage (really good considering age and technology of the time)
-Affordable (at the moment)
-Easy to work on
-4 Doors, convenient
-Advanced for their time
-Look good stock
-Look good dumped
-Usable in snow (not great, but usable)
-Available (722,xxx produced between 82 and 88)

How much time you got? Somewhat biased, but I drive an E24 instead of 28.

Also, outside of the SW community, the e28 community (mye28.com especially) is the worst enthusiast ownership community in the known universe. I say this as a moderator on mye28.com and as a former owner of Ratty.

I've owned a E30, and E28. The E28 was by far my favorite of the 2. Even tho it was supstantially slower. It felt much more Classy i guess you can say, and definitly turned heads. The aggressive "sharknose" look it has, 4dr is always > anythign else. It was Very comfortable inside. The only downfall was typical BMW shitty wiring issues. I couldn't rely on it as a daily. and couldnt have it has a project, so i had to let it go. But definitly Miss it

Oh don't get me wrong, I do love the cars. Hell I put 110,000 miles on mine in 3 years before I sold it to Burroughs. I just don't like the community very much. When my e24 runs right though, it just feels so much better as a cruiser than my e28 ever did.
