Seems like a lot of people of this site are small-time entrepreneurs or are people looking into starting a business. I thought I could start a thread where people like us can share our stories and advice to each other.
Here's my story:
I'm midway through launching my clothing company with my best friend from HS. We came up with our idea during our freshman year of college since we realized how much school sucked. This year we were joined by my good friend at Cornell. She's going to oversee the women's clothing half of the business. Plus she's not too bad to look at either . Over this Thanksgiving break I started working on our web presence, by starting to make our website and by registering facebook and twitter pages.
Basically our clothing company will make tees, tanks and sunglasses that take design inspiration from the racing liveries of 1970s and 1980s Formula 1 teams. It's meant to be marketed towards younger people living a casual (almost) care-free lifestyle. Since the brand's name is FRESH, we decided that a portion of every sale will be donated to H2O for Life so that they can provide FRESH water to children and adults in developing nations, namely in Africa. We hope that that idea will help us receive a $3000 grant from the Cornell eLab entrepreneurship group. Some other unique things about our brand is that all designs will be hand drawn before being scanned and touched up in PS or AI. The bear logo was the result of me doodling in class one day. All the stylized letters are part of a font set I made up.
Here's a snapshot of what our homepage will look like (I haven't uploaded it yet, so here's a screenshot of what is looks like when I preview it through Chrome.
Also, it would help me a lot of ya'll could like the facebook page and if you could follow us on twitter. Here are the links.

We're looking at a full force launch for summer 2012 with tees, tanks, sunglasses and some other surprises.
Any advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated.
