  • Started a blog.

It's just a shitty wordpress job, more or less something to do in my free time when I can't screw with my car and all of my other outside interests for the winter. Something to do while I'm sitting here drinking a beer, and have checked all my regular sites for the day.

I'm just gathering content before I start plastering it places. It's already public, but I'm still working out the things I don't like (finding an acceptable template, working on a decent header image... one that doesnt drive me nuts), etc. It's a blog about everything automotive. Cars, trucks, products/businesses/companies, just anything that happens to spark my interest, things that stand out to me in the automotive culture.

Would anybody be interested in having their car or business on it? It's not a stance-related thing, it's really kind of "anything goes." Anything that is clean, classy, unique, interesting, etc. in the automotive world. Like I said, it's not high traffic yet (5 views in the last week), but I just want to get some posts established to give a taste of what will appearing in future posts before I put it out there. It's my first time, as they say. No competition, I'm not making money on it, I'm not sponsored... trying to turn it into a hobby, more or less.

    Thoughts?

    These are my honest thoughts,

There are a few local car blogs where I'm from, and for the most part they are directed at jdm shit, which is completely fine. I recently tried to start a blog as well and I made a facebook page for it. In all honesty I update the facebook page constantly but I haven't gone onto the blog for a month or 2 now. Without having a large number of people following it I just lose track/interest and stop updating it. If you think you can stay on top of it and update it frequently I'd say go for it. Nothing to lose, wordpress is free, and domains are cheap. The blog I made is sort of the same idea, not necessarily stance related but just stuff I'm building in my garage, cool cars and car related stuff I find. If you need any help with it, I'm fairly decent at web design/photoshop

A couple of my buddies and I run a similar style blog (see sig). I live with 5 other guys (no homo), and we are all engineering students and car guys. We've got a decent size driveway and garage so as you could imagine, we've got a bunch of projects on the go. Between the house and our small circle of car guys, we've got a little bit of everything: vw's, drift cars, imports, muscle cars, minitrucks, etc... We've had a few people suggest that we should run a blog cause there's always something interesting going on.

We've been running it for a couple months and it's been fun. Low traffic but some people enjoy seeing what we're up to. Some of the guys here are a little reluctant to share their projects so there isn't as much content as we hoped but we try to update at least every couple days. We usually update with pictures of any progress of our project cars, or throw in some Formula SAE related stuff (a few of us are on the school's team). If I don't have any content of my own I usually just throw up some random car related stuff that I come across online.

Similar to you, we're not competitive in any way. Don't really care about viewer numbers at all. It's just nice to have a place to pool everyone's car stuff together and let people know what we're up to. I'd like to keep working on the blog as I've got some interest in design. I just haven't had a lot of time to dick around with it yet. So I say go for it, at the very least you might learn some stuff about web design.

Yeah. Another thought I'm having is... Is it too open ended? If it's not focused on a particular automotive genre, will there be people out there like myself that likes a little bit of everything?
