As a PSU student, and someone who saw the riots take place last night I feel this is something that I need to address and just try and educate those who aren't here, but feel like talking endless garbage.
I wrote this last night right after watching some of the most disgraceful actions ever taken by a student body.
I'm disgusted.
The actions taken by many students tonight is absolutely, 100% disgusting. This is not what this university is about, not what it stands for, not who we are as Penn State students. I really don’t know what to say, my mind is flooded with different emotions. But come on, this riot was absolutely and 100% unnecessary. I honestly cannot believe the garbage that some of the students are saying on these interviews on TV. If you don’t know anything about the issue, please don’t open your mouth.
Today I am ashamed to say I am a Penn State student. These actions you are taking by flipping a news van, or jumping on the roof of a car, is not proving anything more than that you’re a jackass, and someone who is out to cause nothing but trouble. Flipping vans, jumping on cars, destroying our own city? People what do you aim to prove with any of this. These are the actions that tarnish this university, “may no act of ours bring shame” well guess what I am ashamed, we as students should be ashamed, we are no better than those who you were rallying against. (Those people being rallied against by the way, are the very ones we should be standing behind and supporting).
I 100% approve of the actions taken by the board here, they did the right thing. Sure Joe was a HUGE icon for the university, but people come on, don’t be blind he wasn’t in the right here, sure he wasn’t as wrong as others, but he sure as hell wasn’t right either. I’m confident that our board will continue to make the right actions as they all have the university’s best interest at heart. We are, well some of us are, Penn State.
