                      only once saw a 1000sel

                      thought it was a joke (internets didn't exist back then)

                      as far as i know Etoile bought gotti
                      aftermarket brand for porsche and lambo

                      To summarize:

                      Gotti's were "hand made" in France from what I heard years ago.
                      Etoille acquired them and slightly changed the design, which to some were less attractive. Etoille was eventually bought by Ronal who melded the lineup into their offering. This basically killed the brand.

                      They are extremely light and strong but, as mentioned, parts are no longer available and tires are harder to come buy.

                      They made their name by becoming the best choice for Pantera, 911 widebody conversion (w/o spacers) and countach aftermarket.

                      The US distributor was Topline who I believe went under in the mid/late 90s.
