Whats the best car for your money

I've been saving recently and my goal is to buy a car by june 2012 for around 10 - 12,000 something that looks cool, 5 speed, and somewhat quick...I've had many different ideas of what cars to look for and have heard many mixed opinions about everyone but im wondering which car have you felt was the best deal as in has some great qualities and didn't cost you crazy money when it had to go to the shop.

Won't fund a decent 250 for less then 20-25k. You're thinking of the is300
