  • Insurance help

Hello users of stanceworks I'm 18 years old and live in New York city. I am looking for a cheap car to insure that can be purchased for less than 5,000$. If anyone has any suggestions please list them below. I have no preferences as its my first car and I just need it to get around. Need some general ideas on what car i should get as I am getting my license soon.

          Or not anything FWD.

You can look at E36s, E30s, E28s, E46s (highmiles), E39s, E34s, S14s, S13s, E24s, that's just naming like all the BMWs and 2 Nissans, obviously you have civics and all that stuff, B5 A4, B6 A4, W202s, 190E, the list goes on for days.

            Protege.

By far better value than Civics. Consistently cheaper, extremely reliable, cheap to insure in most places. Pick one without rear quarter rust and you're golden.

If you're looking to get something cheap that you won't care about other than to drive from point A to B, go with something like a Honda or Toyota. Reliable, cheap, FWD and great on gas.

If you're looking for something a bit nicer that you don't mind doing some work on or if you're going to want to modify it down the road, Kielan listed a few good ones in your price range.

                Good luck!

and all these are expensive to insure with the exception of the civic. fwd is almost always cheapest

Try The Hartford for cheap auto insurance quotes. My Son’s insured with them in NYC and he doesn’t pay a lot considering the location and the fact that he’s not 20 yet. They give him a bunch of discounts such as the good student discount, air bag and anti theft installation discounts, and defensive driver’s credit.
