  • Weekend of $$$$

Went to VA to pick up some wheels and hang with some dudes. Had a really fun time, can't complain really. Got the wheels, hung out in Fredericksburg with some good buddies. Was cruising down 95 with them around 12-12:30 and my V-belt snapped.

I've never cruised with a group before, so having everyone pull over with me was a new experience. They all got out and immediately started trying to help me out and figure out what to do. Couldn't ask for better people to be around.
Anyways, 1:30am hits and we decide to leave the car off to the side of 95 and come back in the morning to replace the belt. I guess it was around 12 or 1pm when we got back to where it was sitting. The car was gone. Called up state police and they had it towed by Sullivan's.

Called them and asked what the damage was. $310 for towing, storage and some bullshit other charge. Got to the yard and could clearly see my front valance was bent back in the center.

    Great.

The people that owned the towing company were nice, and didn't give me shit. Afterall I'm giving them $310. They guessed which officer had the car towed, and told us they got the call to tow it around 4:30 am.

Apparently the police had called a different tow company first, they brought a fork and bent the valance, so they left. That bothers the fuck out of me. The only thing that truly pisses me off is that.

But I look at it this way. Up until this weekend I have mainly cruised alone to meets. And fitting in at college has been tough, not many people get my style or get my love of cars. I'm not really geared towards school and classes and all that. In the past few weeks I've been hitting up a good number of regular meets in NoVa. These guys are awesome, and although I'm new and consider myself a bit goofy/weird, these guys didn't hesitate to help me out in every way.

It's amazing the people you meet and become close with all because of cars. I couldn't care less about who has what, I mean a nice car is cool, but it all comes down to the people around you.

So despite the unfortunate events of my weekend, I have to say it was one of the greatest times I've had. So thank you to Max (tried to give me the AC belt off of his e30 to get Ethel back up and running), Bryan, Carter, Alexandra, CJ, Natalie, Matt, Josh and all of the others who have hung out with me and helped me and Ethel out.

At the end of the day, cars are nice and money is good to have, but the people are what really matter.

Blows that they messed up your car, aren't they supposed to give you 24 hours notice before they tow it?

I agree about it being about the people. I used to go to shows for the cars, now I barely even look at them.

They are supposed to, but they towed it pretty quick. I've been thinking about calling state police and talking to them about it. I'm thinking about talking to a lawyer about the damage to my valance, but I doubt it would be worth it.

          A call is free

Well, not really but whatever. I'd call and see what the laws are.

My buddy Carter was all over the research on Sunday, it looks like I could make a deal of it, but it'd be a hassle as well.

We'll see. I pawned a bunch of stuff and hopefully I'll sell my camera soon so that should get me back the $310.
