  • stance=rice?

I've seen and heard alot more comments regarding "stance" being the new rice. What are your thoughts on this? I think its BS, were nowhere near as bad as actual ricers.

There are certainly quite a few "ricers" in the scene. Random rusted body panels, sticker bombing, roof racks with random shit on it, obnoxiously colored wheels etc etc. Just like anything else, there are the well done cars that stand out, but most people not doing this focus on the poor examples.

There are many different car styles out there, whether it be low-riders, vip, drift, lifted trucks, or just the all out performance track guys. The whole stance movement is a relatively new style and this may be why it is being called the new rice.

In my opinion it is just another style of modifying cars, and is nowhere near the abomination that is actual rice.

Edit: Like Moose said, people just tend to focus on what is seen as wrong, them make fun of that style solely based on those bad apples.
Remember the thread discussing the comment on Speedhunters saying the whole stance scene was dieing down? That was all of the bad apples, the band-wagoners leaving the scene. Moving onto "the next big thing". Leaving only the real enthusiasts to remain.

rice can occur in any segment of car modification, the stance scene is no different.

roof racks with the cars rusted hood on it... plaid body panels, anything with rota wheels....

pretty much the same thing could be said about "donking"... or anything other car phase, lifted up trucks, off road jeeps that never go off road...

Well if u have been in the game for awhile ie imports at one time we wore the term "ricer" like a badge.
Its ashamed it has a bad vivbe to it now. Ive been doing imports, japanese mostly since 1987 and willl to drive and mod them until i no longer can. Being called a ricer just meant bitd that we were recognized not how much stuff u could put on your car from autozone. Since it seems like the majority of cars in teh stance scene or german i wonder how that falls under rice anyway. If you have been doing it awhile we all had some kind of ricey stuff on their car at one time. Dont take it to seriously , how can you. You guys have nice rides on here and there will always be people who try to immitate but just dont quite make it...enjoy the scene while you can...screw the labels put on the scene
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left

even if it was the new rice, why the balls would the stance community admit to that?

There will always be rice/nice in any forum of cars, whether it is stance, motorsports, drifting, lowriders, the jdm movement, etc...

Real enthusiasts have no problem differentiating between the two.

IMO rice is like using a racial slur. It's just something ppl say when they can't think of anything better to say due to there lack of knowledge about the topic

I've always liked riced out cars. Simply being on the forefront of the trends means that more people like it at the same time. But let's face it, stance is pure rice. No function at all, looks ridiculous sometimes, and it's a bandwagon so people are doing it half-assed. Just happen to still like it.

Diamond Racings and mangled fenders are the new unpainted Extreme Dimensions bodykit.

i wouldnt call that rice. trendy, car hipster, and bandwagoning? absofuckinglutly. As far as I'm concerned rice will always be japanese car+cheap bodykits, oversized wheels and any assortment of fake vents one can purchase at an autozone/walmart. that being said the people whose to-do list is just the trends of the month are just as bad as ricers.
