As a VW owner I have to agree... Great cars - surprisingly not that hard to work on, but damn all those little plastic pieces and damn the stealership only parts.

I paid $75 for a formed plastic hose. Crank case breather hose - the only thing special about it was that it was formed and it had a brass fitting inside. I think I could have bought a afternarket formed silicone hose that I found much later - I was pissed.

The only reason my car's still stock is due to the fact that every time I get a little lump of cash saved up something goes out... I was about to get some new wheels then the O2M(6 speed trans)went out. I love the 6 speed but damn if every time I have to touch something in there it's big $$$.

I might start a maintenance thread since I can't afford to build and maintain at the same time...
