I've had multiple people tell me my car is broken before. It really doesn't help if the car doesn't look that great.

That's why I never understood the appeal of purposely making or letting a car look like shit. I was always embarassed when I couldn't get my car as nice as possible.

I think that a lot of enthusiasts assume that people see what they see, and are actually offended when people don't get it. There are many things that simply are not universally appealing.

Yeah, but lowered cars are not one of them. I seriously don't understand how a well stanced lowered car can look bad to anyone.

I don't get my panties in a bunch when people don't understand it but i just don't get why they take it to heart and get pissed off about lowered cars

Most people like a car with a modest drop, it does improve the appearance a great deal, even if they don't really know why they like the lowered car better. You often hear people comment on how a car "sits".

But just like I can't really tell the difference between $60 jeans and $500 jeans unless one pair looks better on a person (not that I'd have the slightest clue which is which, or why), most people just see "a car".

I was trying to tell my roommate about gumball 3000 the other day and he did not show one morsel of interest. I mean, you're a guy and fast cars, hot girls, parties, and fun in general is not even slightly appealing?!

I always wondered that too. A car is used everyday. How someone(especially a dude) can not slowly build an appreciation is beyond me. Whatever though. I can't get into watching most sports that tons of dudes jerk off over so who am to talk?

I don't purposefully make my car look like trash... It was just low, and I hadn't washed it in a while...

This. Also, when people crash, or whatever. I know that when I learn even a small dent got in any of my/family members cars I'm incredibly mad, and damn close to tears. (maybe cause I know it wont get fixed if its not my car ) I dont get it when people fuck their car up, and just dont care.

I know exactly what your talking about I parked in the parking structure at my college during the first week and used the stairs to walk down to street level as i get down to the second floor I hear a *crunch* some chick rolled her car right into a cement pillar backed up about an inch got out and just walked away without even looking to see if there was any damage I just shook my head and walked away at the time I was seriously disgusted I later laughed

I understand where you are coming from.

A lot of it for me stems from my upbringing. My parents always told us to treat things with respect and to not be abuse them. Some people don't learn this, so they just don't give a fuck.

As for what people are thinking, who knows. Back when I was on my summer wheels (cheap tire rack wheels) I had a guy ask me if something was wrong with my wheels because they were close the the fenders. I also had someone ask if my suspension was broke because there isn't any wheel gap. lol

Those are pretty reasonable questions, if you think about it.

I stopped trying to explain it to people who aren't into cars.
                            It's not worth the effort.

"why would you want it so low?"
"how do you drive that thing anywhere?"
                            etc...

One of my neighbors thought my GS's suspension was broken because I don't drive it and it sits laid out in front of the house.
