First off here are some pics from the media:

And here are a couple of quotes from Ozhonda, a local forum, where several members have lost homes, cars, posessions..

This is the moment Flood waters engulffed Towoomba, unexpected.

The flood waters have not only affected Queensland, but also New South Wales, and they are predicting months of rainfall ahead. To think this time last year our country was just past a decade of drought...

If anyone feels like donating towards the flood relief fund here is a link:

Did you want to help in the floods but didn't know how? You can help recovery by donating, volunteering, contributing to the community inventory or through 'Join Forces'

A few of the biggest insurance companies have said they will not be paying out for flood damage, so many people have infact lost everything.

My deepest thoughts and condolences with those who are there. I know this flood has effected my family in irreversible ways. The many people that have lost everything, and more, my hopes, prayers, and wishes are with you.

Hopefully your gov't goes about this in a more reasonable way than the US did with Hurricane Katrina.

Man, that sucks. Insurance companies are going to have field days sorting this all out with customers.

Yep.. Im flying up there in little over 4 weeks, It was meant to be to visit friends and talk cars, now it will be more about taking in what has happened and yeah.. The waters will have receeded, but there will still be areas underwater...

It will take years for some communities to recover from this..

Indeed it will take a long time to rebuild, to get back to the way things once were. But it will happen over time. The only thing to do at this point would be to keep on going, to get back up, and continue on living. I know that's no easy task, but taking no action, will only make things worse in the long run.

Is the third picture down Fairfeild Road??? If it is that's where a mate lived who lost their house and his KE11 (diff was out) He said they didn't have much time at all, only enough to get some of the most valuable stuff.

Thoughts go out to you fulla's

That's rough man. My thoughts are with you guys dealing with this. If it makes you feel better when I saw this on the news the first time my first thoughts were "Ohh fuck my boy OX!!" haha

That first video is nuts. I know it's the least of anyone's worries, but I'd be freaking out if I had to watch my car float away like that.

i'm so sorry to hear about all of this. Australia is such a gorgeous country. I really hope and pray the best to all of you over there. I too **** insurance companies. As far as I can tell you're better off putting your insurance money into a safety fund.

                        heres some rough figures:

Around 30,000 homes have been flooded with water

Upwards of 100,000 homes were left without power when the grid had to be turned off for safety reasons - all the substations were going under water

                        16 people dead

BUTCHER Steven Bateman spotted two bull sharks swimming near his Goodna shop yesterday - one of several reports of a sharks in Goodna's main street.

The Queensland Times reported the shark sightings, 30km from the coast, with Ipswich local councillor Paul Tully confirming it was a bizarre but true story out of Queensland's flood disaster.

``It would have swum several kilometres in from the river, across Evan Marginson Park and the motorway,'' Cr Tully said.

``It's definitely a first for Goodna, to have a shark in the main street.

``I know Steve (Bateman) and he wouldn't say he saw a shark unless he really saw one.

``It's not like there have been polar bears or crocodiles spotted.''

Meanwhile, Gympie Pines golf course owner Mike Towler is offering $1000 reward to anyone who can help catch the person who carved the outline of a huge penis into one of the course's greens while others battled the flood disaster elsewhere.

``People's emotions are bound to be pretty raw at the moment and to do this sort of damage to people is absolutely woeful,'' he told The Gympie Times.

``It costs $20,000 to build one of these greens and $2000 to $3000 to repair this sort of damage.

He said he was angry that people would take advantage of disaster to hurt others.

``I'm offering the money to anyone who gives information to police leading to this person being convicted,'' he said.

Graffiti tags were also painted on the Quick N Easy Car and Dog Wash, and vandals also struck the Lands Office building and numerous structures at One Mile sports fields.
