woah. thats going too far. i can agree on the part where more evidence is necessary for some of the conspiracy claims for that event, but you cannot state that the gov would not commit crimes against its own people, equal or greater in magnitude...in general. if you actually believe that, you haven't looked into history very well. simple example, the gulf of tonkin. a crime against the american people, equal and/or greater was committed, just in a different form.Last edited by NegativeCamber; 01-06-2011, 06:37 PM.

Seriously, fuck the invention of 24hr news networks. They have nothing to do so they over analyze stupid things like 100 birds dying. I have never heard a single person on fox say a factual statement. They just speculate. Its the most retarded shit in the world. The only fucking actual news show they have is that dude on Sunday.
A. 2012 predicts a large solar flare, which most astronomers agree is going to happen. It is no where near the largest solar flare we've ever experienced. The poles will not flip, its not even something that could happen because of a solar flare. The Mayan calander doesn't say anything about the earth ending in 2012. Tell you what though, if you really think the world is gonna end, then I'll give you a contract to sign that says after 2012 i get your house, and i'll give you 10,000 bucks now. What good is it gonna do you when the world ends anyway right?
B. BP oil spill was not a government plot. When the descision was made to drill for oil in the gulf, BP initially decided it wanted to drill something like 50 miles offshore, i can't remember the exact figures. President Obama prohibited them from drilling so close. The problem is that as you get further offshore the bottom of the ocean gets deeper. So you can blame your government for being idiotic and forcing BP to drill out there.
C. I still cannot believe that people think that the world trade center was a gov't plot. What more of a conspiracy do you need then a bunch of pissed off Muslims conspiring to hijack planes and crash them into buildings. They have shows that literally have experts go through all the "evidence" and disprove every conspiracy hack that thinks they know better. I find it insulting that people think the government would do such a despicable act. The worst thing about these stupid conspiracies is that it takes attention away from the real problem and therefore finding a solution to the real problem.

I honestly don't buy in to all the 2012 shit. However...
I do think about it sometimes, and here's what I have decided...
If in fact, 2012 happens, I personally have already started gathering parts, and preparing for this glorious day. I want to start off by saying that I am a pretty morbid person, and that caring about death is not really on my top priority list, I really just dont care. This will be 5 days before my 25th birthday, and I really would like to see 25, but if not...whatever.
So, I am building a "death machine" that I will hopefully be able to live out my fantasies in, on 12/21/2012. I'm going to make sure that I make 500 or more hp, and the car has been stripped of all crash/support beams, and any impact softening devices. The car is likely going to be a civic hatchback or coupe, turbo'ed with the kit that I already have...but that's besides the point.
If I find that tectonic plates are shifting, cali is falling off the US, and hurricanes and tsunamis and shit are happening, I'm simply going to go out with a bang. I will hop in this "death machine", and go do 160 (however fast I run out of gear at) pulls on the highway, and see how long I can last. Hopefully I wrap myself around a bridge, or die in a fiery crash, that makes the CNN 6 o'clock news. I just don't want 2012 to take me haha.
Either way, I dont think it will happen... and you can trust that I'll be smoking blunts and celebrating on the 22nd.

the gulf drilling moratorium was lifted in early-October. there's currently no ban on drilling, but the new permit process is apparently super slow.Originally posted by Petis View PostNow that Obama, though he isn't technically allowed to, has stopped all off-shore drilling for 6 months, America's dependance on foreign oil has just increased ten-fold.

Well seeing as I don't watch Fox I really have no idea what they could be saying...Originally posted by prod0660 View PostYour not educated enough on the BP spill . It's not what you saw on Fox news , it was great than that. The Russians were making enormous strides in deep sea drilling nd the u.s can't let that happen so BP has this idea and the u.s agrees and BAM ! Hell broke loose ...
All I am saying is that you're reading wayyy too far into this "conspiracy" that the gov't was behind this.
Yes gas prices went way up, but the price of the clean up is also massive. The gov't and BP both took their sweet time getting on the clean up, but both sides were heavily criticized for what they had or in this case hadn't done. I'm sure someone somewhere made money on this, but regardless of that, I can safely say (at least in my own mind) that BP did not intentionally do this, it severely scared their public image, and they took a HUGE hit for that, one that they are still trying to recover from. But this whole conspiracy theory, I think you guys are taking a bit too far.
Anyway back on topic. No, its not the end of the world.
EDIT: Just realized how little sense that made.
In other words, BP didn't make huge gains off this spill, gas prices will continue to rise regardless.Last edited by Kielan; 01-06-2011, 11:09 AM.

^the BP spill was directly linked to Americas's flawed off-shore drilling procedures and ridiculous constraints. In Europe and just about everywhere else, they are allowed to drill at shollower depths and at an angle. Both of these things reduce the already enourmous amount of strain on the equipment and drastically reduce the chances of such occurrances. Now that Obama, though he isn't technically allowed to, has stopped all off-shore drilling for 6 months, America's dependance on foreign oil has just increased ten-fold.

BP and the American government got together when the oilrig disaster happened and said fuck it lets make some dollar. By leaving it so long, throwing the blame around everyone watching tv got confused and then coming in to save the day, the gov look like the hero, BP pay for stupid programs to show they're cleaning the animals and planet, people forget about the disaster and wonder why petrol prices just went up again (because it's still all in the sea) Gov get money/fame, BP make more.
I wouldn't be suprised at all. As if your government or any government tells it's citizens the whole truth fooos

This is called searching for evidence to support your conclusion. If you look at all of the evidence (and there are metric tons of it), I think you'll form the conclusion that the poles haven't switchedOriginally posted by TheBlockIsHot View PostJust heard an interesting theory on the radio..... Birds and Crabs (40,000 crabs have been found dead on the shores of Kent, England) are thought to have some sort of magnetic homing instinct, which is "controlled" by the magnetic fields of our planet. A switch in the magnetic fields could cause the birds to quite literally fall out of the sky, or fly into the ground. This could also explain extreme weather conditions, as the polar caps would "switch"............ but as I've already seen this mentioned, that would most probably be all over the news!
Just a theory!!
But that's why you heard it on a radio station and not through scientific publications lol

Do you read your own posts?Originally posted by prod0660 View PostReligion of an entire nation ?... now that makes no sense and I find that rather comical ...( where you get this stuff )
And the particle accelerator was very well thought out with years of research and countless sums of.money to fund it , not an ego battle to drill into depths unheard of before with little to no preparation . Now do you see a difference ? Billion $ thought out idea VS billion dollar catastrophe due to no planning at all . That's why taking chances when no plan b , or preemptive measures are taken is bad for everyone .
( how is the BPspill related to destroying a region ? Idk oil *spilled on an ocean * might.destroy a thing or two

Shit happens everyday, they tried to go deeper, they had a mathematical error oilspilled. Shit happens. There was no "ego battle", oil rigs are billion dollar investments as well, with a ton of risks behind them, they didn't just decide, "oh ok, lets just drill really deep with out thinking twice about it". That is not what happened.

not gonna worry until humans start falling out of the sky dead.
this same thing happened to birds on my college campus (relatively close to these dead birds). wierd weather one year caused the berries that the birds usually eat to ferment on the branch. the migrating birds would eat the berries, get poisoned and randomly die all over campus.
