So what made you want to get tunnels?

"Hmm.. let me pick out a style of piercings... oh, those look cool"

or was it a progression from regular earrings?

I had a friend growing up whose brother was a piercer and had his ears stretched to about 00 gauge. I thought it looked awesome, so when I was 16 I got my ears pierced at a regular piercing size. I planned to go to 0 or maybe 00. Then when I finally got to 00 after about a year, I realized it really didn't look all that big, so maybe I'd just go up one more size? Well..... Turns out they look pretty small until you hit about an inch. So I stopped there. Been that way for quite a while.

My wife has stretched ears too. Her's are 3/4".
