  • Out Of State Ticket-Need Help

Ok, so a friend of mine got a ticket out of state (New York) and he lives in FL (Miami) and the ticket was pretty cheap, idk, but he took too long and added like 160 onto it or something and suspended his license. Now, if he pays the ticket (original amount plus 160) they'll unsuspend his license. Now here comes my question. Isn't it true that his license is only suspended in NY? Like it has no effect on him in FL right? So wouldn't he be better off not paying it and just not driving in NY? If anyone know for sure lmk.

When my license got suspended in NC it was only for the state of NC. I don't know for sure if other states are the same, but you can usually get on your DMV website and check the status of your license. I moved right after I got my ticket and transferred my license before court and I fell through the loophole, no fine, no ticket, no suspension. Win me!

ya, I'm pretty sure it has no effect on your in state license or whatever, but i'm not positive. I was wondering though if anyone has any experience with it as well, maybe not a moving situation but more like you were visiting in a state got a ticket and then left, for like vacation or something. Also if even if it doesn't affect his license would it have any effect on his insurance?

Not sure about that, I would call the appropriate State Officials, because if that's true, then I'm seriously pissed. I had some opportunities recently that make me really pissed that this is reality.

It will land him a suspended license infraction in NY, and possibly jail time for driving on a suspended, NY will notify FL of the suspension and when he goes to re-new his license they wont let him until he takes care of the fines in NY

i got 2 tickets in GA in one week, and i live in Florida. this happened almost 2 years ago, and i never paid them. ive been trying to pay them since ive been in iraq (dec 09) but no DMV in GA seems to have any record of it. what im thinking is, they saw that i wasnt going to pay the ticket, said fuck it, and just threw them out. my FLA license was never effected, and as far as i can tell neither was my GA license. but we'll see what happens when i go home and get pulled over driving through GA lol.
