  • Erick's SL65 AMG On The Dyno!

The following video is meant to showcase some post-maintenance power and torque figures for Erick’s SL65 AMG.

A customer of ours that lives out of state, Erick brought his SL65 back to the shop for some routine work regarding the electrical system, along with a change in the FMU custom intercooler setup to keep temps lower and power higher. Once the work was done, we wanted to see what sort of numbers the car was putting down.

The highest power output of the day was 554.3 rwhp, and the highest torque value was just a hair under 775 lb-ft to the rear wheels. Those numbers are not small by any means, even in a car that’s not known for lightness. If not feathered to the utmost perfection, the tires would spin independent of the rollers, resulting in less-than-accurate numbers.

WIth the car secured down as well as it could be, the immense amounts of torque actually caused the dyno itself to shift slightly as the car rose through the powerband, which you can notice in a few clips. We didn’t do many more runs than you see here — maybe 2 or 3 on top of the ones here.

In terms of modifications, Erick’s SL65 has the following:

    FMU Custom Intercoolers
    FMU Custom Intakes + Airboxes
    FMU Custom Tune
    FMU Custom Charge Piping
FMU Custom Midsection (including cat delete)
    FMU Custom Heat Exchanger
    Lowered Stock Suspension
    Johnson Pump

Here’s the dyno graph for you to pour over. It’s not the highest power value of the day, but it’s the average power output we’ve seen across all runs, along with the highest torque value.

This car is an absolute beast, and we were glad to have it back in the shop for a bit, in order to get this video and bring it back to 100% tip-top shape. Enjoy the video!
