stretch question

well i used to run 215/40/18 on my 18x9.5 fronts. and it was pretty stretched. i could stick a pen in there. lol. but i was just wondering if it is safe to stretch a 215/40/18 on 18x10? or will that be going overboard? has anyone done this stretch before? i mean it's just .5" difference. just wondering, because i might run 18x10 in the front, but will need as much clearance as i can. note that i daily my car. thanks in advance.

i think if u maybe go with a bigger sidewall it will not only look better but be safer as a daily, if your looking for more stretch thats the answer, you dont want anything chipping up yur wheels cuz there simply isnt enough protection from the tire

You got pics to back that up? 215/35 on a 18x10?? 215/45 will give you more sidewall to stretch...

My $0.02; if you need that much stretch to fit your wheels, do fender work or something. But that's because I'm not into the whole maximum poke thing, I just like flush fitment.

he popped a bead and chewed up his lip,
but that's just rediculous. he could put his
cellphone between the lip and tire

i have that in my front right now, just got it mounted today. Its a lot of stretch even for me. We'll see how it goes i guess. Provided the rim has a bead lock on the barrels it should be okay. Oh and the car is my daily.

wow thanks for the help guys. i havent been on here since i started this thread. lol. but i already ran 225/40 and a slight pull. with tuck. did it last week. pretty good turn out for me. we'll see if you guys like it or not at hellaflush 5.
