  • M50 issues

What's up guys, I have a 1991 525i e34 with a m50 in it. I've always been big into Bmw's and finally got one. I've been dailing the car for the last 6 months and it's been running great.. Till yesterday. It all started when I was on my way out of the beer distrubtor. Lucky I got my beer but did not get my car back home.. When I went to start it the first thing I noticed was my cel light came on and my car was having a really really rough idle and sounding like it was missing.. It kept dropping rpms till it became a stalling condition. When I tried to bring up the rpms it would just sound worse. This is my daily driver and I really really need to get this up in running my buddy has a scan tool so when he gets done from work I'm going to see what codes pop up and take it from there.

I've taken the plugs out and saw they were pretty soaked (need a valve cover gasket) I cleaned them up a bit but was just inspecting them to see if they were able to short to ground which is causing the misfire.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Update: yesterday i went back to the car to do some further diagnosing. I saw a tsb for the icv valve and when its clogged it causes the symptoms i am dealing with. Me and my buddy cleaned it all up with some carborator cleaner and when i thought everything was going to be great it just turned out worse.. when i went to crank it yesterday it would start for only a second then immediatley die out. i tried listening to the fuel pump prime the lines in the back seat and all i could hear was the relay no winding at all. im starting to believe i have a fuel issue either the fuel pump, the fuel filter, or the fpr

I just want my car back running like it use too
