MK2 Issues And Maintenance ?

Debating on wether i want it or not but i need to know if these cars run well or not. im willing to put in the effort . Golf or jetta, Dosent bother me. Ive hard they had problems but i want to make sure from people who have experience with this car. Thanks in Advance!

Every 20 year old car has problems. I've owned 16 mkii's over the years I have never had a water pump fail on one... The biggest issues are grounds in the engine bay. The 8v is is a great little motor. The early cars are cis-e fuel injection which is mechanical it has it's own set of problems. Later cars are digiII injection which is electronic injection.
