  • Need Help Rolling Odd Fenders...

Well, I have a 98 sonoma. There wasnt much help on my truck forums when I searched but I figured you guys had a better understanding. I just got to mock up my rims and tires tonight and the rears wont fit unless I roll or cut the fenders. the problem is they are huge and there are 2 of them, its a double lip. I want to try not to crack the paint bc I paid too much for the PJ and its about 8 years old haha but none of my past set ups have called for me to modify anything. This time I decided to run a 20x10 with 275/40/20 tire. I have a fender roller so any tips and tricks would be very helpful.

In the pic the jack is still keeping the truck up, I have about 2more inch to lower it before the jack lets off..

you need to get the paint very hot to keep it from cracking. being you have a paintjob over another paintjob this gets a little tricky. work in small sections at first until the lip is uniformly folded. also if there is any seam sealer on the backside of the fender lip it needs to be removed, otherwise youre just folding over it and arent going to get the desired result.

this is really difficult to explain without writing a book, but you really just need to take your time. the older the paint is, the less it likes to flex. a good fender roller can push any kind of metal but getting it to not look like a dogs breakfast takes patience and a little finesse.
Beware before i triple dare you like the last kid.

i didnt chip any paint, i cut the rear in sections with a die grinder and rolled them.
kept the heat between 150-160 degrees (bought a laser thermometer
